About The Eagles
The Eagles formed in Los Angeles during 1971 by Don Henley (vocals/drums), Randy Meisner (vocals/bass), Bernie Leadon (vocals/variety of string instruments), and Glenn Frey (vocals/guitar). After starting out as a backup band to Linda Ronstadt, they released their debut album, Eagles, in 1972. The album reached the Top 20 and Don Felder was recruited into the band after performing as a session guitarist on their third album, On the Border, which became The Eagles fastest selling album by going gold in only three months. The Eagles’ fourth effort, One of These Nights, was released in June of 1975 and went gold before the month was out, igniting the popularity of the following world tour that summer. Released in February of 1976, Eagles: Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 became the runner up for the title of the best-selling record of all time (in the United States) to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Going platinum (selling 1,000,000 copies) in one week’s time, The Eagles’ fifth album, Hotel California, won 1977’s Grammy for Record of the Year. Unfortunately, The Eagles broke up in 1982 but were back together in 1994 for a world tour that lasted until the summer of 1996. The Eagles were inducted into Rock & Roll’s Hall of Fame in 1998 and decided to tour, once again, starting in 2005.
